A Muslim group, the Muslim Community Leadership Forum, Benue South, has congratulated Och’Idoma, His Royal Majesty Dr. John Odogbo Elaigwu, on the confirmation of his appointment and installation as Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, by President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement released by the forum’s chairman, Ambassador Dr. Umar Ajape, and signed by its Secretary, Alhaji Garba Gryema on Sunday, the group said it was not surprised by the development, given the monarch’s dedication to community service and excellent performance since his emergence in 2023.
“The Federal University, Otuoke, is lucky to have a chancellor of Dr. Elaigwu’s caliber. The institution will witness rapid growth under his watch, given his result-oriented antecedents. We, the Muslim Community in Idomaland, are confident that the royal father will bring his wealth of experience and wisdom to bear in his new assignment,” the statement explained.
Dr. Ajape observed that the confirmation of AgabaIdu Elaigwu’s appointment as Chancellor of the university is an honor for the Idoma nation, and called on all sons and daughters of the land to rally around the monarch to enable him to succeed.
The group stated that what the people need most at this crucial period of insecurity is unity, which can be achieved through the leadership of the Idoma king.
The statement wished His Royal Majesty success and guidance in his new position, praying God to give him long life and good health as he pilots the affairs of Idoma nation and the University of Otuoke.
It reassured the Och’Idoma of the group’s loyalty to his authority and commitment to promoting inter-communal and inter-religious harmony in Benue South.
The Muslim community wished the Idoma king, his council members, and subjects a prosperous New Year, expressing optimism that the New Year would be better than the previous ones.
The leadership of the Muslim Community further urged the Muslim Ummah in Benue Zone C to continue to pray for peace and security in the land, as suggested by the Och’Idoma.
“We Muslims in Benue Zone C are using this medium to appeal to our people to continue to do their best to ensure peace and unity among our people and other groups in the zone. We also urge them to continue to pray for the peace of Idomaland, as ordered by the Och’Idoma to his subjects and residents recently,” the group implored.
