The Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Helen Nyiekya, has advised civil servants to engage in meaningful activities that enhance both their personal development and the growth of the state.
Mrs. Nyiekya gave the advice on Tuesday during an interactive session with the Deputy Governor’s Press Crew in her office in Makurdi.
While encouraging the crew to uphold the ethics of journalism and avoid excesses in the discharge of their duties, the Permanent Secretary urged them to familiarise themselves with Civil Service rules and maintain neutrality in the political space to prevent unnecessary controversies.
She expressed her commitment to improving the welfare of the crew as conditions permit and charged them to remain steadfast in promoting the image of the state despite existing challenges.
Earlier in separate remarks, the Press Crew’s spokesperson, Sunday Iduh of The Voice Newspaper; Mike Oyih of Radio Benue; and Simbiat Agbaji-Adikwu of NTA congratulated the Permanent Secretary and other management staff on their recent posting to the Deputy Governor’s Office. They outlined challenges facing the crew, including lack of mobility, and appealed for the Permanent Secretary’s intervention to improve their monthly stipend. They also pledged renewed efforts to promote the activities of the Deputy Governor and his office.
In his remarks, the Director of Administration and Supply, Mr. Emmanuel Onuh, thanked members of the Press Crew for the engagement and their team spirit. He assured them of continuous meetings and collaborative activities to further project the image of the Deputy Governor’s Office for the benefit of the state.
