The Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial district, Sen Pam Dachungyang, has explained why some of his sacked aides haven’t been paid their salaries. Sen Dachungyang gave the explanations on Thursday in Jos, during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Plateau council. The legislator was responding to questions from journalists, who revealed that some among the 181 aides he relieved of their appointments have complained that they are owed monthly salaries.
According to Senator Dachungyang, some of the aides presented account details of their girlfriends, hence the ineffectiveness of the payment. “We do not pay salary by proxy, some of them presented account details of their girlfriends, some gave Opay accounts, we do not accept such details, that is why they are yet to receive their salaries.”
Sen Dachungyang explained why he sacked the aides, “they are too many; some will be retained, but those I have empowered won’t come back, let them go and use the starter packs we gave them as empowerment and be self-reliant.”
Speaking on insecurity, Sen Dachungyang warned that those involved in the killings should vacate the state. “As the Senator representing the zone and the Chairman, Senate Committee on Tourism, I am using this opportunity to urge and also tell whosoever is part of these killings or a supporter of these heinous acts to desist or leave the Senatorial district.”
“As a matter of urgency and need, reported cases of some communities who were living in the dark got succour through my intervention programme which brought light to them. In the 2025 budget provision, I again selected some communities that would benefit from transformers and solar street lights distribution.”
“It is quite disturbing and disheartening when I visited some of the places that have had incidents of attacks. I could not sleep because what I saw was unbelievable and horrible.”
“The sight was terrible. I took a bold step and reported the matter to the National Assembly. It was in this wise and in addition to many other cases of similar magnitude coming from different parts of the country that a National Security Summit was initiated. In my opinion, let us all come and reason together and tackle the situation together.”
Sen Dachungyang explained how he assisted most constituents in his senatorial district, “currently, the Riyom community is enjoying part of that gesture.”
