The Nasarawa State Government has approved the sum of N13 billion for road construction in the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Aminu Muazu-Maifata, disclosed this during a ministerial briefing in Lafia.
He said, “N13 billion was approved for the projects. We have already released 30 per cent of the total sum to the Chairmen and work has commenced.”
The Commissioner also stated that government has granted autonomy to the LGAs and set up a structure to coordinate and ensure proper utilisation of their funds.
He emphasised that the state government, under Governor Abdullahi Sule is committed to supporting the LGAs to foster development at the local level.
According to him, the LGAs have been paying 100 per cent salaries, implementing promotions and giving 50 per cent salary bonus to civil servants.
“We are also paying them a monthly pension of 100 per cent to make their lives worthwhile at the other phase to enable them to enjoy their retirements from active and meritorious service to the state,” Muazu-Maifata added.
He said that the state government is also releasing N80 million monthly for pension payments.
On his part, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Ibrahim Tanko, said government would continue to enlighten the public about its policies and projects.
He noted that the ministerial briefing was one of the government’s initiatives aimed at enlightening, educating and informing the public about the policies and programmes of government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Sule .
Dr Tanko added that the 2026 budget includes more projects with the aim to consolidating progress and completing ongoing ones .
