The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has decorated 444 newly promoted officers elevated from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP II).
At the decoration ceremony, held on Wednesday at the Command Headquarters in Lafia, CP Mohammed charged them to uphold professionalism, discipline, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
He congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotion, describing it as recognition by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to service.
The CP emphasised that promotion in the Nigeria Police Force comes with additional responsibility and higher expectations.
The Commissioner urged the newly decorated officers to be exemplary leaders, maintain strict discipline, and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
“The new ranks demand accountability and respect for human rights in line with the ethics of the Nigeria Police Force. I, therefore, urge you all to avoid acts capable of tarnishing the image of the Command and the Nigeria Police Force, as integrity and discipline remain the bedrock of effective policing,” he said.
CP Mohammed further noted that public trust and confidence must be earned and sustained through transparency, fairness, and dedication to duty.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to operational efficiency, capacity building, and improved service delivery across the state, he encouraged the promoted officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by contributing meaningfully to the fight against crime and criminality in Nasarawa State.
The ceremony was attended by senior police officers, families, friends, and well-wishers who gathered to witness the significant milestone in the officers’ careers.
