Students of Journalism and Media Studies Department from Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, MOAUM, on Tuesday embarked on an educational research visit to The Voice Newspaper in Makurdi.
The exercise was designed to expose the students to the practical realities of news production and media operations, bridging the gap between classroom theory and newsroom practice particularly in desktop publishing.
Also, the visit provided firsthand insight into the daily routines and processes that drive a print media organization.
As part of the visit, the Editor, Solomon Ayado facilitated an interactive learning session, assisted by the online Editor, Sunday Iduh and the Head of computer/production unit, Comrade Moses Akawe.
The session covered key areas including newspaper publishing, editorial standards, news writing structures, ethical reporting, and the broader responsibility of the press in society.
The students were also taken on a guided tour of the computer session where they observed the step-by-step process of news gathering, copy editing, page design and layout, and printing, gaining a deeper appreciation of the teamwork and precision required to produce a newspaper.
Staff of The Voice engaged the students throughout the visit, sharing professional insights and responding to questions on newsroom operations, challenges in the media industry, and career development.
