Also gets appointment with HFN
The Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) Football Directorate, in line with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda, has approved the appointments of Football Coordinators for states in the North Central Zone of Nigeria and the FCT.
In the list released by the North Central Zonal Coordinator of the TSO, Mr Solomon Babanjah, ahead of the TSO National Football Tournament slated for April, 2026,
the Permanent Secretary of the Benue State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Creativity, Dr Philip Ter Nongu, was also named as the Coordinator for Benue State.
Dr Nongu’s appointment which was with immediate effect, would see him and other Coordinators overseeing their various states, by implementing and liaising with the local football teams to raise a formidable state team each for the zonal eliminations competition, en route to the national finals which would be played against winners from the remaining five zones of the country.
Just like the other state Coordinators, the Benue State Coordinator would also organise coaching clinics, refereeing courses and administrative workshops in their various states in order to strengthen football management structure at the local level as well as leveraging on sports as a medium for community outreach and civil participation.
Although, the dates and venues for the zonal play-offs and the national finals of the TSO football project was yet to be announced, it would serve as an avenue for talent discovery, promotion of social cohesion and also deepening of community engagement in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
In another development, the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), has also appointed Dr Philip Ter Nongu as a member of the Training and Development Commission of the Federation.
This statement which was released by the Secretary General of the Federation, Monica Otumala, said Dr Nongu’s appointment was based on the recognition of his wealth of experience, competence and commitment to the development of handball in Nigeria.
Otumala stated that, “your inclusion in this important role reflects the confidence reposed in your ability to contribute meaningfully to the growth, administration and success of the Federation”.
