Barcelona sealed their 28th La Liga title with a 2-0 win over arch-rivals Real Madrid in El Clásico at Camp Nou on Sunday.
The victory put Hansi Flick’s side out of reach at the top of the table, with the 2025-26 season set to end on May 24.
Both goals came in a dominant first half. Barcelona struck twice before the break and held firm after halftime, while Real Madrid failed to find a response despite pushing forward.
The result extended Barça’s remarkable run in this fixture this season, having won all four meetings against Madrid—4-0, 4-3, 5-0, and 3-2, prior to Sunday.
The win puts Barcelona seven points clear of second-placed Real Madrid and confirms them as champions. For Real, it was a fourth straight El Clásico defeat this campaign. Kylian Mbappé’s La Liga debut season ends without a league title, despite his 38-goal haul across all competitions.
“Suffering is what makes you strong and what teaches you to correct the mistakes you make,” said Lamine Yamal after the match. “It was very important to win today to get closer to the league title. We are delighted.” Flick praised his side’s mentality, noting that the team bounced back from their Champions League exit to deliver when it mattered.
Barcelona have now won La Liga for the first time since 2019, and this El Clásico becomes a rare title-decider. Only once before, in 1931/32, had El Clásico directly decided the championship. With the league secured, Barça can celebrate a domestic double after also lifting the Spanish Super Cup earlier this year.
