The Benue State Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Creativity, Hon Tiza Imojime, has acknowledged the efforts made by the Nigerian Football Coaches Association, Benue State Chapter (NFCA), in promoting sporting activities in the state.
Hon Imojime who was represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Relations, Hon Andura Terna, made the acknowledgement after their 4-2 sledge hammer on the Gboko Council of the Nigerian Football Coaches Association, in a friendly football sweep-stake decided on Saturday, at the McCarthy Stadium Makurdi. He noted that, “you are not only strengthening relationships within the sporting community in the state but you are also encouraging young talents in the game of football”.
He said, the friendly meet would go a long way in building a healthy relationship among members of the NFCA across Benue State and also keep them fit, stressing that, “as elders in this field, you should impart your wealth of experience in the younger generation”.
The Commissioner, while thanking all the coaches for coming together to play football as it was a thing of joy, called on the NFCA in all the Local Government Areas in the state to build on what the Gboko Council and the State Chapter of the NFCA had started, saying, “when I return from the Easter break, I will put head together with all those concerned and see if I can donate a trophy, to make the event more competitive among all the NFCA Councils in the state”.

In their remarks, the Patrons of the NFCA including, the Chairman of the Benue State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria(SWAN), Hembadoon Orsar, DSP Yakubu Ibrahim (rtd) and Jacob Abayol all commended the State Chapter and the Gboko Council of the NFCA for organising the friendly and prayed God to continue to give them the wisdom to do more by initiating football programmes to bring the youths together to showcase their talents.
Responding, the Vice Chairman of the Association, Ismail Umar thanked the Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Creativity, Hon Tiza Imojime for the fatherly role he was playing in the association, the SA to the Governor, Hon Andura Terna and the Chairman of SWAN, Hembadoon Orsar for always being there for the association each time they invited them for an occasion and prayed God to bless them richly.
