The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt. Gen. Wahid Shuaibu, has tasked troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) in Plateau State to maintain high operational standards and demonstrate exemplary conduct in their core mandate of safeguarding lives and property.
Represented by the Commander, Infantry Corps, Maj. Gen. Godwin Mukut, the Army Chief stressed that operational guidelines must not be compromised. He made this known on Saturday in Jos, while serving as the Special Guest of Honour at an Easter brunch organized for the troops.
He also urged OPEP personnel to ignore circulating rumours and false allegations about the operation, noting that such claims are often the result of public agitation. Lt. Gen. Shuaibu assured OPEP troops and other personnel across the country of the Army’s commitment to their welfare, adding that their sacrifices in service to the nation would not go in vain.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Maj. Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, who also serves as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Rukuba stated that the operation has lived up to expectations. Maj. Gen. Oyinlola noted that troops under his command have consistently demonstrated professionalism in all their engagements, particularly during recent attacks on residents of Angwa Rukuba in Jos.
He commended the troops for their resilience and professionalism in their interactions with civilians. The special Easter brunch was organized by the Nigerian Army for the Joint Task Force of Operation Enduring Peace in the field, in recognition of their sacrifices in protecting Plateau State residents and the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
As part of the event, the representative of the Chief of Army Staff and Maj. Gen. Oyinlola personally served meals to officers, soldiers, and invited guests as a mark of appreciation for their dedication and service to the nation.
