The hope for good leadership and responsible governance in Taraba State is not over, All Progressives Congress, APC governorship aspirant, David Sabo Kente has said, vowing to restore the state’s fortunes if elected in 2027.
Kente, popularly known as DSK, said he was responding to calls from The people of the state to intervene and rescue the state from what he described as years of poor leadership and bad governance.
Speaking to journalists after meeting with the State Working Committee of the party on Thursday in Jalingo, the business expert said Taraba should expect a brighter future under his leadership.
“The first three and a half years of the southern Taraba administration were totally wasted through poor leadership and bad governance, which fell far short of the yearnings and expectations of Tarabans,” Kente said. “This calls for urgent change to save the state.”
He criticized the last four years of southern governorship, saying the period had been marked by hopelessness, a lack of tangible infrastructural development, and no clear plan for the state or its youth. Kente pledged that, if elected, he would steer Taraba toward development and economic prosperity, drawing on his experience in the private sector.
“As someone who has succeeded in private business, Tarabans need not fear a repeat of the failures of past poor and ill governance,” he said.
The APC aspirant also expressed support for the conduct of primaries as directed by the party’s national leadership. He opposed the imposition of a consensus candidate and urged party chieftains to remain open to all aspirants and ensure a level playing field.
Kente called on the people to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and himself in the 2027 general election, describing the president’s policies as the best path to sustainable economic prosperity.
