The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has assured Nigerians that it will confront Nigeria’s security challenges, reverse economic stagnation particularly in the North Central region and deliver sustainable solutions to the nation’s crises if elected in 2027.
The North Central National Vice Chairman, Mr. Barnabas Ejisi, gave the assurance during a one-day interactive session with party members in Lafia on Saturday.
Ejisi who urged Nigerians to unite and vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming general elections, said the NDC is on a rescue mission for citizens struggling under current economic hardships.
”We are the only platform with the capacity and commitment to provide real development to the North Central region, tackle insecurity, reverse the tide of economic backwardness, and proffer solutions to our nation’s challenges,” Ejisi stated.
He lauded the foresight of the party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, and noted that the high-profile defection of prominent political figures including Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa-Kwankwaso has brought immense value and credibility to the NDC.
Ejisi emphasised that the NDC is built on a philosophy of public service rather than exploitation.
He encouraged members to actively seek elective positions, declaring that the party expects a major victory in the upcoming Nasarawa North senatorial bye-election.
Also speaking, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) NDC Chairman, Mr. Solomon Ndam, who spoke on behalf of the region’s chairmen, interpreted the high turnout at the meeting as a clear sign that the North Central zone has rejected both the APC (the “broom”) and the PDP (the “umbrella”).
Ndam asserted that an NDC victory would signal the end of hunger, insecurity, and unemployment in the region, urging a unified vote from the grassroots up.
Earlier in the event, the Nasarawa State NDC Chairman, Comrade Dogo Shamma, invited residents of the state and the wider North Central zone to align with the party, describing it as a vehicle for justice, equity, and progress.
Shamma revealed that the Nasarawa chapter intends to utilize a consensus arrangement to select credible candidates for all positions from the State Assembly to the governorship in order to maintain internal unity and prevent political friction.
He concluded by charging members to fortify the party’s structures across their respective states to meet the public’s demand for people-centered leadership.
The event brought together North Central state chairmen, party officials, aspirants, and key stakeholders.
