A new executive council of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has emerged through consensus in Nasarawa State to run the affairs of the party in the next four years.
During a state congress held on Saturday in Lafia, delegates from all the 13 local government areas unanimously ratified the leadership with Hon. John Michael-Abdul as Chairman.
In his inaugural address, the Chairman, Hon. Michael-Abdul said his commitment would be for the transformation of the ADC into a formidable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said the state executive council will focus on grassroots mobilisation, internal democracy, and issue-based engagement through the electioneering period.
Hon. Abdul who was a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, expressed optimism that the party will take over the country and the state from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
He said the mandate of the new exco was to build a party that reflects the values of integrity, inclusion, and quality service to the people of the state.
“Today, by your consensus and by this Congress, you have entrusted us with the responsibility to serve our great party for the next four years and we have accepted it with deep humility and a sense of duty to deliver.
“ADC in Nasarawa State is a big family with one vision and mission to grow the party, win elections, and deliver good governance to the people of the state,” he added.
He further explained that the exco will come up with a comprehensive work plan in the next 30 days to strengthen the party in the 147 electoral wards, 13 LGAs and the State.
The Congress Committee Chairman, Kani Jibarang described the process as “peaceful and transparent.”
On his part, the outgoing Chairman, Barr Paul Magaji thanked the party for the opportunity to serve and urged members to extend their full support to his successor.
The Voice reports that the new officials were immediately sworn in by Barr John Matthew, following the ratification by delegates, marking a smooth transition for the State chapter of the party.
