The Coordinator of Divine Mandate in Kaduna State, Comrade Emmanuel Atule has challenged Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Media Team to intensify efforts in projecting the unprecedented achievements of the governor to people in the diaspora to enable them take critical and informed decisions in the 2027 governorship elections.
Comrade Atule Emmanuel who is also the President, Kunav Development Association, (KUDA), Kaduna State, National Secretary, St Augustine Catholic Community of Nigeria and Director General, Benue Diaspora Community for Good Governance threw the challenge during his recent visit to Benue State.
The Coordinator who spoke exclusively to The Voice Politics, Monday, said from what he saw on the ground in Benue State, the governor was under reported and urged the media team to extend their reach beyond the Benue shores for the world to feel the transformative actions being put in place.
“What we use to hear about the governor in Kaduna is not even commensurate with what I saw on the ground. The media that report Governor Alia understate his works so I want to charge the media team to report on him more better than what they are doing now”, he said.
According to him, his visit was to participate in the recent inauguration of the Divine Mandate Phase 2 held in Gboko and presented his assessment of the governor in the past years saying:”so far so good, we are happy about the activities of the governor of Benue State”
“All of us that worked for Fr Alia, we are happy that he has not disappointed us, he has done well. We came for the inauguration of Phase 2 of Divine Mandate in Gboko and we saw what the Governor is doing – the roads, factories, renovation of the State Secretariat that has been abandoned for years , his midas touch in the agricultural sector from fertilizer subsidy and other imputs and applications, which, even those of us in Kaduna benefited”.
“We thank God that we have been crying for good leadership and now God has given us one”.
“My advice to Benue people is that we should join hands in supporting Alia because we are proud of what he is doing. Even our friends that do visit the State are attesting to this fact”, the Coordinator added.
The Benue State citizen in the diaspora who expressed worry over the state of insecurity occasioned by herders and bandit attacks also said, “we used to defeat our enemies in situations like this and it was not government that was giving us the support. We used to have our traditional means to fight and the number one weapon was unity, and if we are not careful these people will take over our lands and eventually we shall have no place to call our home”.
He explained that Divine Mandate Phase I was all efforts geared up towards bringing in of the governor for the first term in office and the Phase 2 is to ensure that he is reelected for the second term come 2027.
“We have the following things that we are going to do: we are mobilizing our members to change their voting points wherever they are to Benue State. We are mobilizing buses to carry to and fro, our members who may not have enough resources to travel during the elections. We are mapping strategies to project the good works of the governor so that our people will be better informed on the necessity to return him as governor. And we are embarking on documentaries so that when we want to talk we shall have less work in reaching out to the people”, he explained.
