The just-concluded state congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State have been hailed as the most peaceful and credible in recent times, with incumbent chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) re-elected to serve a second term.
The congress, which was witnessed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), saw several changes in key positions. The State Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, did not make the list of the ruling APC state officials.
The position of Organizing Secretary changed hands, with Hon. Abe Aku, a former Commissioner, emerging in the role. The position of State Youth Leader was also filled by Danjuma Selkong, while Miss Lilian Madaki, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), clinched the position of Assistant Woman Leader.
Speaking at the congress on Tuesday, the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, commended the organizers for the peaceful conduct of the party event. Governor Mutfwang charged the newly elected party executives to carry everyone along to enable the APC to take full control of the state. He also called on members to woo others into joining the party.
The Chairman of the Plateau APC State Congress Committee from the national secretariat, Oscar Yelwa, who coordinated the congress, noted that the process was in line with the Electoral Act and the party’s ideology.

Following directives from the national secretariat for immediate oath-taking, all APC executives at the ward, local government, and state levels in Plateau State were sworn in.
The congress was attended by prominent APC members, including the Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo, Sen. Simon Lalong, and Sen. Diket Plang. The event was generally peaceful, with a visible presence of armed security personnel
