…Cites need for adjustments
The Benue State Government has postponed activities planned to mark the state’s 50th anniversary and the third year of the current administration, saying more time is needed for consultations to ensure a more inclusive and successful commemoration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the government said the decision was taken “to allow for necessary adjustments and consultations.” it said a new date for the celebrations will be communicated to the public in due course.
Signed by Deputy Governor, Dr. Sam Ode, the statement expressed regret over any inconvenience the postponement may cause individuals, groups, and organizations. It also thanked residents for their understanding, patience, and continued support.
“The Government regrets any inconvenience this postponement may have caused individuals, groups, and organisations, and appreciates the understanding, patience and continued support of the good people of Benue”
The events were expected to celebrate Benue’s 50 years of statehood alongside the third anniversary of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration.
