Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called for a renewed commitment to peaceful co-existence, intense prayers for Nigeria’s transition period, and strict compliance with traffic laws. He made the call as Muslims across the globe mark the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir festival.
The Governor, in a message issued on Tuesday reminded citizens of the significance behind the festival describing it as a fundamental test of faith.
“The feast of Eid-el-Kabir is a test of faith in commemoration of the sublime submission by Prophet Ibrahim (May Peace Be Upon Him) to the call for sacrifice,” the Governor said..
He advised that the period should serve as a wake-up call for the Ummah to embody the virtues of brotherhood, humility, and absolute adherence to divine commands.
Governor Sule appealed to the people of Nasarawa State to build stronger, more harmonious relationships with one another, regardless of differences.
“I appeal to us all to continue to preach peace, show love, understanding, tolerance and good neighbourliness among ourselves,” he said.
Highlighting the spiritual weight of the season, the Governor called on citizens to remember Nigerian pilgrims who have completed the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
Governor Sule noted that the prayers of the returnees are vital for the collective well-being and structural development of the nation as Nigeria is currently navigating a crucial transition period.
He prayed that the Almighty Allah would reward the pilgrims’ acts of worship and return them safely.
The governor further issued a directive to motorists and the law enforcement officers to ensure that the public holidays declared were not marred by avoidable tragedies.
”I appeal to all road users to obey traffic regulations, just as I call on the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies to intensify enforcement of the laws during the festivity,” the Governor warned.
He wished all residents a peaceful and hitch-free celebration saying,”Eid-kum Mubarak. Allahumma Taqabbal Minna Wa Minkum” (May your Eid be blessed; O Allah, accept it from us and from you).
