Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Senator representing Nasarawa West, Ahmed Aliyu Wadada has formally accepted to bear the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Nasarawa State gubernatorial contest. He has however declared that the party’s primaries left “no victor and no vanquished” situation.
Addressing a Press Conference alongside party stakeholders and support groups in Lafia on Monday, the lawmaker described his victory as a triumph for the collective aspirations of the people.
”I formally accept this mandate freely given by members of our great party across the State. I accept it with a deep sense of responsibility, total commitment, sincerity of purpose, and an unwavering determination to continue serving the people of Nasarawa State,” Senator Wadada stated.
While stating that the primary election was an internal family affair, the Senator extended a hand of fellowship to his fellow contestants, including Hassan Liman (SAN) and Dr. Fatima Abdullahi, acknowledging their statesmanship and sacrifices for the party’s stability.
He appealed to aggrieved party members and those contemplating defections to have a rethink, urging them also to prioritize the party’s collective strength over personal political differences.
”The contest is over. The time for reconciliation, unity, and collective responsibility is now. There is no victor and no vanquished. The APC remains a large and accommodating family, strong enough to accommodate our diverse aspirations and opinions. Let us not create divisions where unity is needed,”Wadada maintained.
The guber candidate paid glowing tributes to the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule, noting that his purposeful leadership, political maturity, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of the party have been exemplary.
According to Wadada, Governor Sule’s administration has laid a solid foundation for the growth and development of the State through remarkable achievements in infrastructure, industrialisation, agriculture, healthcare, education, security, and economic transformation.
He also aligned his upcoming campaign with the federal government’s economic direction, drawing inspirations from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
”Despite the challenges associated with major reforms, President Tinubu has remained focused on building a stronger economy, improving infrastructure, strengthening institutions, attracting investments, and creating opportunities for national growth,” he said.
While unveiling his development roadmap for the State, Senator Wadada unveiled the HEARTS Agenda, saying it is a comprehensive blueprint aimed at ensuring people-centered governance.
He explained that the acronym represents six structural pillars:H – Human Capital Development, E – Economic Enhancement
A – Accountability, R – Rural Transformation, T – Technological Advancement and S – Security.
Wadada promised that under his stewardship, governance would be inclusive, results-oriented, and structured so that every citizen benefits, regardless of social class, religious leaning, or political affiliation.
”Our goal is simple: to ensure that every community, every stakeholder, and every citizen feels the positive impact of governance regardless of location, social status, religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation,” he stated.
He, therefore charged the electorate to remain united saying, “With unity in our hearts, faith in Almighty Allah, and confidence in our collective strength, I am convinced that the best days of Nasarawa State are still ahead of us.”
