Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has nominated Hon. Solomon Iorpev and five other persons for appointment as members of the State Executive Council.
The nomination was contained in a letter dated August 18, 2026, and read during Tuesday’s plenary by the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Alfred Aondoaver Emberga
Governor Alia said the nominees are proposed to replace outgoing members of the cabinet and to fill existing vacancies. He noted that the move is intended to strengthen the State Executive Council and inject additional expertise and capacity into the administration.
The full list of nominees includes: Hon. Kuma Aii Yenge, Hon. Roy Ashirga Terna, Hon. Angwa Egbe Monday, Hon. Elizabeth Onma Ogenyi, Hon. Solomon Iorpev and Hon. Nick Eworo
In the letter addressed to the Speaker, the governor stated that the nominations were made in exercise of his constitutional powers pursuant to Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
He requested the House to give the nominees prompt and favourable consideration in accordance with its constitutional responsibility.
The submission comes as the Alia administration continues efforts to consolidate its cabinet and strengthen the machinery of government for effective service delivery across Benue State.
The House is expected to announce dates for the screening and confirmation of the nominees in subsequent sittings.
