Gov. Sule swears in 8 new Commissioners, others

​Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has sworn in eight new commissioners as members of the State Executive Council.

​The governor also administered oath of office on six new permanent secretaries, 11 Special Advisers, a member of the Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission, and a member of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC).

​Governor Sule during the inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday in Lafia, urged the appointees to align with his administration’s policies and programmes to drive development across the State.

He charged them to remain focused and discharge their duties without fear or favour, emphasizing the demands for accountability, transparency, and prudent management of resources.

He explained that the cabinet reshuffle was designed to strengthen governance, adding that the selection of the new permanent secretaries was based on merit and the state quota system.

​The newly sworn-in commissioners and their respective portfolios are:
​Dr. Nawani Aboki: Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Ashefo Daniel Paul: Lands, Survey, and Physical Planning, Hon. Baba Shehu: NGOs and Disaster Management, Hon. Ahmed Yakubu: Budget and Economic Planning.

Others are Hon. Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim: Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye: Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Muhammad Habeeb-Nagogo: Tertiary and Technical Education and Hon. Rebecca Kpadji: Women Affairs and Social Development.

​Governor Sule expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, and the lawmakers, for the prompt screening and confirmation of the nominees and expressed satisfaction to the executive-legislative synergy in the State.

​Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, stated that the appointments were aimed at reinforcing governance and driving progress.

He assured the governor of unalloyed loyalty and dedication of all political appointees.

​Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Dr. Nawani Aboki appreciated the governor for finding them worthy to serve and reaffirmed their commitment to executing their duties impartially and effectively.

​Dignitaries present at the event included Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe; Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau; the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage (Rtd); Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu; and the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Aliyu Bello.
