The Governing Council of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), has approved the appointment of Professor Nancy Ngunan Ugbagir as Acting University Librarian.
The appointment was approved at the Council’s 157th meeting and announced in a press release dated Tuesday, August 4, 2026, signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Barnabas Terfa Hemba.
According to the statement, the appointment became necessary following the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past University Librarian, Professor Innocent Isa Ekoja.
“The appointment takes effect from Tuesday, August 4, 2026,” the release stated.
Professor Ugbagir is described as a distinguished scholar and accomplished administrator with extensive experience in university librarianship and academic service.
The Council and University Management expressed confidence in her ability to provide purposeful leadership and further strengthen the services and development of the University Library.
The statement also assured members of the University community that the process of appointing a substantive University Librarian is ongoing and will be conducted in accordance with the extant laws and regulations governing the institution.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Senate, staff, and students of the University, congratulated Professor Ugbagir on her appointment and urged her to deploy her wealth of experience in discharging her responsibilities as Acting University Librarian.
