The Acting Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State, Professor Jere Ndazhaga, has announced that the institution uncovered and apprehended a syndicate that specializes in the forgery of its certificates. Professor Ndazhaga made this disclosure during a press conference held in Jos, Plateau State, on Monday.
“Gentlemen of the press, it is imperative to highlight that the University recently discovered a sinister operation involving a group engaged in forging, falsifying, and altering academic results, and issuing these purportedly as legitimate credentials of the defunct Federal College of Education, Pankshin,” he stated.
He added, “The case was formally reported to the State Intelligence Department (SID) on Monday, 17th November, 2025, at approximately 4:30 pm, based on credible intelligence indicating that criminal elements were producing fake results and certificates bearing the University’s name.”
Professor Ndazhaga explained that the suspects were arrested, prosecuted, and subsequently found guilty and were sentenced to one and a half years’ imprisonment at the Pankshin correctional center.
“The two suspects were found guilty, convicted by a competent court of law, and each sentenced to 1½ years in prison,” he confirmed. He named the suspect as Mr. Friday Tunkyes (male), from Mikang Local Government Area, and Mr. Harvey Obed Ringsum (male), from Mangu Local Government Area.
The Vice Chancellor stressed that during the operation, a significant number of forged certificates representing various academic qualifications, along with the institution’s official embossed stamp, were recovered from the suspects. He noted with concern that the suspects had illicitly forged the seal of the institution to carry out their activities. However, he emphasized that neither of the suspects had ever studied nor worked at the University.
The Federal University of Education, upgraded from the Federal College of Education to a full university last year, has recently begun admitting students.
