Gov Sule Mourns Senator Akwashiki

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has expressed deep sadness over the passing unto glory of Senator Godiya Akwashiki, representing Nasarawa North Senatorial District.

In a statement personally signed by the Governor and made available to journalists, he described the late Senator as “an accomplished public servant, courageous legislator, and devoted son of Eggon land.”

Governor Sule acknowledged the senator’s humility, commitment, and service to the people saying, “the death of the distinguished Senator is painful not only to his family, the Eggon nation, and the people of Nasarawa North, but to our entire state and the Nigerian legislature”.

He extended condolences to Akwashiki’s family and the people of Nasarawa State.
“We shall continue to cherish his legacy of honour, leadership, and steadfast commitment to the progress of our dear state”, the governor stated.

Senator Akwashiki died far away in an Indian hospital on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the age of 52 after a protracted illness.

Before entering the Nigerian Senate in 2019, Akwashiki served as Majority Leader and Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

He was born on August 3, 1973, in Angba Iggah, Nasarawa Eggon, Nasarawa State.
