The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Nasarawa State Chapter, has thrown its weight behind the nationwide call for the urgent passage of the Special Seats Bill (HB1349), aimed at increasing women representation in governance.
In a statement issued on Monday in Lafia and made available to The Voice,, The Chairperson of NAWOJ in the State, Mercy Tanze Zabadee emphasised the importance of inclusive governance and the need for more women in decision-making positions.
“As women, we recognise the critical importance of inclusive governance and the need for more women in decision-making positions.
“The passage of this Bill is vital for Nigerian women, and Nasarawa stands to benefit immensely, ” Zabadee said.
The NAWOJ Chairperson added that greater female participation in governance will drive progress and ensure that women continue to be agents of change.
NAWOJ Chairperson also called on lawmakers to support the Special Seats Bill (HB1349) and commended the National Assembly for their efforts, urging them to expedite its passage into law.

She appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to sustain his commitment to gender equality by publicly endorsing the Special Seats Bill.
Zabadee also urged the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly to ensure that the State Assembly aligns with national efforts to address gender imbalance in governance.
She reaffirmed NAWOJ’s commitment to the cause, saying, “NAWOJ Nasarawa remains steadfast in this cause. Together, we can make history.”
