Make Christ centre of your marriage, Cleric charges couples

By Mimidoo Anyiman

The pastor in charge of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), North Bank, Makurdi, Rev. Agyo Gabriel Aleka, has charged couples to make Christ the centre of their marriages. He stated this on Saturday during the solemnization of holy matrimony between Judith and Celestine at the church.

Delivering a sermon titled “Take Jesus First in Your Marriage,” the pastor emphasized the importance of building a Christ-centred home. He admonished the couple to make Jesus Christ the foundation of their relationship, noting that spiritual alignment remains key to marital stability and growth.

“Put God first in everything you do,” the pastor charged. “When Christ is at the centre, your marriage will withstand storms and seasons.”

He further cautioned the couple against allowing third parties to interfere in their union, stressing that marital challenges should be handled with wisdom, understanding, and mutual respect. According to him, external interference often breeds conflict and misunderstanding in homes.

Highlighting the core values of a successful marriage, the cleric reminded the couple that love, care, attention, patience, and unwavering support are essential ingredients for a thriving relationship. He urged them to remain committed to meeting each other’s emotional and spiritual needs.

The couple, who pledged their lifelong commitment to one another before family members, friends, and well-wishers, expressed appreciation to God for making their dreams come through. The congregation offered prayers for fruitfulness, unity, and divine guidance as the couple embarks on their marital journey.
