Aopoly appoints new Acting Rector

Dr. Simeon Onu has been appointed as the Acting Rector of Akperan Orshi Polytechnic (Aopoly ), Yandev, effective Friday. His appointment follows the indefinite suspension of the former Acting Rector, Dr. Adzua Dogo, by the institution’s governing council over the unlawful approval of funds.

The suspension of Dr. Adzua Dogo and the appointment of Dr. Simeon Onu as his successor were announced on Friday by the chairman of the governing council, Dr. Victoria Pila, during a meeting with management at the school premises.

According to sources, the governing council accused Dr. Adzua Dogo of approving salary payments for the suspended Registrar, Dr. Kume Aondo, and Bursar, Mr. Patrick Apaa, for the months they were suspended. The two officials had been suspended for misconduct, with Dr. Aondo suspended for three months and Mr. Apaa for two months, between July and September last year.

Upon their return to duty, they allegedly pressured Dr. Dogo to disburse their salaries for the suspended period, which he eventually approved. The governing council has faulted Dr. Dogo’s decision and promised to investigate the circumstances surrounding the suspensions and salary payments.

Meanwhile, the search for a new Rector is underway, with candidates scheduled for interviews on Monday
