Alhaji Abubakar Bawa has emerged as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, following a congress held at the Reverend Jolly Nyame Stadium, Gemu Hall in Jalingo on Tuesday. Bawa, a former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, defected to the APC and won the chairmanship election.
Other elected officials include Mr. Ande Tarin as Secretary, while Mr. Aaron Atimas retained his position as Publicity Secretary.
Governor Agbu Kefas, in his address, commended the peaceful conduct of the congress and charged the newly elected officials to be inclusive, fair, and just. He emphasized that truth is the bedrock of the party’s strength and urged the people of the state to join the APC to win the 2027 general elections.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa expressed gratitude to Governor Kefas and party leaders for the confidence reposed in him and the new leadership.
He promised an open-door policy, justice, and fairness, ensuring all members are carried along. Bawa also called on people of the state who have not joined the APC to do so, as the party is open to all Nigerians.
