The Benue State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, has announced the activities marking the 2026 National Police Day, with the theme “Community Partnership: Building Trust”, highlighting the critical role that community engagement plays in ensuring safety, preventing crimes, and promoting justice.
The event, aligned with the directives of Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, will feature a range of community-focused activities from March 30 to April 7, 2026, culminating in a grand finale in Abuja.
According to a press release issued by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet on Friday, the activities include: a sanitation and environmental cleaning exercise in Makurdi Metropolis and a medical outreach programme for residents of behind modern market, on March 30. This will be followed by a walkathon to enhance community interaction on March 31. On April 1, there will be community engagement and sensitization on electoral violence and safe driving while the presentation of cheques to families of deceased officers is scheduled for April 2, 2026
The Benue State Police Command invites the public, stakeholders, and partners to participate in these activities, aimed at strengthening trust and cooperation between the police and the community.
The command reaffirms its commitment to protecting lives and property, and fostering a secure environment for all, stressing that policing is most effective when it is rooted in trust, mutual respect, and collaboration.
