The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Benue South Senatorial District, Hon. Jonah Ogah Ominyi, formally resigned from his position and withdrew his membership from the party on Monday, citing persistent internal crises and growing uncertainty within its ranks.
In a telephone chat with The Voice on Thursday, Ogah, who confirmed his resignation, said it was no longer tenable to remain in a political platform where, in his words, “politics is treated lightly and legacy members are sidelined for selfish ambition.”
He noted that his involvement in politics has always been driven by a commitment to service rather than conflict, insults, or factional disputes. However, he lamented that the ADC had strayed onto a path he described as “unjust and unfavourable to well-meaning members” who contributed to its establishment.
The former zonal chairman recalled that he and other founding members laid the groundwork for the party’s growth in 2023, expressing disappointment that the current direction no longer reflects the vision they once shared.
Ogah also formally requested that his name be removed from the party’s membership portal to reflect his disengagement from the ADC.
While stepping away, he extended goodwill to remaining members and thanked them for the opportunity to serve during his tenure.
