The paramount ruler of the Idoma nation, His Royal Majesty, John Odogbo, has described the attainment and celebration of seventy years by the paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, Prof. James Ayatse, as a joyous and remarkable occasion.
His Royal Majesty Odogbo stated this on Saturday at the Tor Tiv palace. He also congratulated the Tor Tiv on behalf of the Idoma Traditional Council, describing seventy years as not merely a celebration of age but a testimony of divine grace, impactful leadership, and distinguished service to humanity.
He noted that, as Chairman of the Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Tor Tiv has demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to peace, unity, justice, and the preservation of cultural heritage. He added that Ayatse’s voice remains strong and consistent in advocating for the security, unity, stability, and development of Benue State and Nigeria at large.
Speaking at the event, former Governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam, and honorific title holder of Vande U Tiv, congratulated the Tor Tiv on his birthday and all the traditional rulers in Tiv land. He stressed that a lack of respect for the Tor Tiv is a disgrace to the entire Tiv nation.
He also condemned derogatory remarks on social media against the Tor Tiv and solicited the support of Tiv leaders and youths in defending the throne in the interest of the Tiv nation.
Earlier, Tor Tiv Prof. Ayatse, who thanked God for attaining the platinum jubilee, said he dedicated his birthday to orphans and promised to raise funds to address the plight of youths, which he said forms an integral part of his birthday celebrations.
He dedicated all funds realized during the Thanksgiving to supporting the less privileged and youths in Benue State.
According to a statement by the Press Secretary to the Tor Tiv, Freddie Adamgbe, General Atom Kpera (Rtd) gave a vote of thanks. He eulogized the vital roles played in sustaining the unity of the Tiv people and prayed God to add more years to the paramount ruler as he continues to rule the Tiv people.
