The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Taraba State Wing, has urged the state government to consider qualified and experienced teachers for appointment as Permanent Secretaries.
The call was made on Monday by the State Chairman of the union, Comrade Nathan Solomon, in Jalingo during an event to commemorate this year’s World Teachers’ Day.
Comrade Solomon emphasized the need for enhanced recognition of the teaching profession, stating that seasoned teachers possess the expertise required to contribute meaningfully to policy formulation and public administration.
The celebration included a workshop themed, “Standing with Teachers: 60 Years of Promoting the Profession, Advancing Its Status and Shaping the Future.”
According to him, the theme highlights the enduring contributions of teachers to the development of the education sector and the shaping of society’s future.
