The Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Prince Maxwell Ogiri, has lauded Governor Hyacinth Alia and his Deputy, Dr. Sam Ode, for their purposeful leadership and infrastructural drive in Benue State.
Ogiri gave the commendation on Sunday at Ipingwebe, Adoka, during a thanksgiving service organised in his honour by his kinsmen of the Ai-Ode Eneche Clan and the Methodist Church.
In a statement made available to The Voice on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Joshua Otene, the chairman thanked Governor Alia for the approval of five kilometres of township roads for each of the 23 local government areas, the regular payment of salaries and the massive recruitment of teachers.
He said, “The Alia administration has within three years changed the narrative of governance in the state, unlike the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which held power for 24 years without tangible results.”
Ogiri therefore called on the people of Adoka and Otukpo in general to sustain their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Alia-led government, which he said has given Adoka people a voice in governance.
Speaking on his stewardship, the council boss said public office is about legacies and urged political office holders to embrace uprightness, sincerity and accountability.
He expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Sam Ode, for his guidance and fatherly counsel, and appealed to traditional rulers and the clergy to continue to pray for him.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Sam Ode, represented by his Chief of Staff, Musa Ujor, Esq., commended Prince Ogiri for his loyalty and grassroots development efforts and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to deliver good governance.
Earlier, the officiating ministers, Very Rev. Anthony Omale, Evang. Emmanuel Achukwu and Very Rev. Elias Igoche, congratulated Ogiri on his achievements, particularly in the renovation of public schools, and charged him to remain steadfast in service to God and humanity.
Dignitaries at the event included traditional rulers, clergymen, APC stakeholders and members of trade unions.
The highlight of the occasion was the decoration of Dr. Sam Ode and Prince Ogiri with the warrior regalia of the Ai-Ode Eneche Clan for their contributions to the unity and development of the Idoma nation.
