The Benue State Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Dr. Margaret Adamu, has called for stronger collaboration among agencies under the ministry to enhance efficiency, maintain standards, and improve service delivery in the state’s education sector.
Adamu made the call on Tuesday when she hosted an interactive meeting with heads of agencies under the Ministry of Education and Knowledge Management at the ministry’s conference hall.
She said the meeting was aimed at fostering harmonious working relationships among the various agencies, sharing experiences and best practices, and collectively advancing the delivery of quality education in the state.
According to her, greater synergy among the agencies would promote uniformity of standards, improve performance, and create room for positive changes in the education sector, in line with the vision and mission of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration.
The commissioner stressed the importance of teamwork, describing the word “TEAM” as meaning “Together, Each Achieves Much.”
She urged all heads of agencies to work together and support the achievements of Governor Alia, particularly the implementation of the administration’s seven-pillar strategic development plan, which places education and human capital development among its key priority areas. Adamu also appreciated the various agencies for their contributions to the development of the state’s education sector and urged them to remain committed to the collective mandate of the ministry.
The Permanent Secretary, Secondary and Tertiary Education, Mrs. Helen Nambativ, commended the commissioner for the initiative, describing it as a step towards strengthening the education system. Nambativ called on the heads of the various agencies to embrace teamwork and maintain cordial working relationships to create a more productive workplace and improve service delivery.
In her closing remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Basic Education, Mrs. Bibiana Tyoishi, appreciated participants for their meaningful contributions and deliberations. She assured the meeting that the ministry would continue to promote unity and collaboration among its agencies in order to effectively deliver on its mandate.
The agencies represented at the meeting included the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), headed by Dr. Grace Adagba; the Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examination Board, headed by Dr. Terna Francis; the Teaching Service Board, headed by Dr. Bem Tseen; the Science and Technical Education Board; and the Scholarship Board, among others.
In their contributions, the participants unanimously endorsed the initiative, noting that closer collaboration would promote sanity in the system, clearly define the roles, boundaries, and mandates of the various agencies, and eliminate unnecessary overlaps.
They pledged their support for the initiative, expressing optimism that working together would strengthen the education system and lead to more effective and efficient service delivery to the people of Benue State.
