The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has screened and approved eight Commissioner nominees presented by the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.
During plenary on Wednesday, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, announced the successful confirmation of the nominees and advised them to maintain high ethical standards once they assume office.
The confirmed Commissioner designate namely; Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed , Dr. Ashefo Daniel Paul, Muhammad Habeeb Nagogo, Adamu Rabecca Kpadji, Hon. Mohammed Baba Shehu, Hon. Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye, Nawani Aboki and Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim.
The approval followed a motion introduced by the House Majority Leader, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, which was subsequently seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba.
The nominees enjoyed overwhelming support from lawmakers representing their home LGAs, leading to a unanimous confirmation by the House.
Following the proceedings, Speaker Jatau instructed the Clerk of the House, Mr. Ibraheem Abdulaziz Musa to forward the official resolution to Governor Sule to finalise the appointments.
Their confirmations followed the Governor’s list of nominees unveiled on August 5, 2026 by the Assembly.
In a separate legislative development, the Assembly held the first reading of a bill proposing the establishment of the College of Animal Health and Production Technology in Obi.
The bill sponsored by Dr. Ibrahim Peter Akwe, the lawmaker representing Obi 1 constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture.
Dr. Akwe moved the motion for the first reading, which received backing from Hon. Esson Mairiga.
Following a unanimous vote to advance the legislation, Speaker Jatau scheduled the bill’s second reading for August 25, 2026.
