The newly appointed Benue State Commissioner for Energy, Science, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Monday Egbe Angwa, has assumed office with a charge to staff of the ministry to embrace cooperation, dedication and teamwork to advance the development agenda of the state.
Angwa gave the charge on Monday while addressing the Permanent Secretary, directors and other staff of the ministry at his office in Makurdi.
He urged the staff to bring their wealth of experience and expertise to bear on their responsibilities, stressing that their collective commitment would be critical to achieving the objectives of the ministry and the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
“With your cooperation and the blueprint given to me by Governor Hyacinth Alia, we will achieve greater heights,” he said.
The Commissioner thanked Governor Alia for the opportunity to serve in his administration, saying his mission was to build on the objectives for which the ministry was established and contribute to the development of Benue State.
He explained that the ministry’s mandate was largely science- and technology-based, adding that it would also take on the responsibility of setting up a new Ministry of Natural Resources.
According to him, the proposed ministry would cover key areas including forestry, solid minerals and water resources.
He said the new responsibility presented an opportunity to explore and develop Benue’s natural resources for the benefit of the people and the overall development of the state.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Alexander Tsaga, who introduced the new Commissioner to the staff, welcomed him and pledged the support and cooperation of the ministry’s workforce.
Tsaga assured the Commissioner that the staff would work with him to achieve the goals of the ministry and contribute to the success of the administration.
Hon. Monday Egbe Angwa is a geologist and hydrogeology specialist. He served as Vice Chairman of Oju Local Government Area in 2024 and has professional experience in geological field operations, groundwater exploration, borehole development, construction supervision, and water and sanitation projects.
