The Kaduna State Government has pledged partnership with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN)
The Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Kaduna State, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, made the pledge last Friday, when the President of SWAN, Comrade Isaiah Benjamin led members of the association, after his re-election at the 2026 Triennial Delegates Congress, held at the Recool Hotel, Kaduna, on an inspection of the ongoing remodelling of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium and the Kaduna Township Stadium in Kaduna. He said, “SWAN has been very supportive of the Sen Uba Sani administration and we will continue to partner the association in ensuring that we strengthen sporting activities in the state”.
Mallam Maiyaki who described SWAN as a disciplined association and that they were grateful to God that a man who had stood as a signpost of what it meant to live a life of purpose, love and unyielding loyalty, Isaiah Benjamin was re-elected as President of the association. He said, “the icing on the cake is Benjamin’s re-election which is a reflection of what the 2027 General Elections in Nigeria, will look like when Governor Uba Sani will be also elected for a second term in office”.
While emphasizing on the numerous benefits both the Ahmadu Bello and Kaduna Township stadiums would attract to the state after completion in December, he disclosed that, “when work on the 33.000 capacity Ahmadu Bello Stadium and the 10.000 capacity Kaduna Township stadium is completed, it will attract investment drive in terms of hotel business and also attract tourism”.
Responding, the President of SWAN, Isaiah Benjamin, commended the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani for not only remodeling the Ahmadu Bello, the Kaduna Township Stadiums and restoring the lost glory of sports in Kaduna State but for also creating an enabling environment for every sector to thrive where people of the state have continued to enjoy relative peace. He averred that, “we are here to inspect the remodeling of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium to FIFA standard, the Kaduna Township Stadium and to also doff our hats to the Governor for prioritizing peace in the state. Which is why SWAN members across Nigeria, converged here in Kaduna for the 2026 Triennial Delegates Congress”.
Comrade Benjamin said, he personally took a tour of the stadium before now and commended the Governor, for the good job he was doing by restoring the lost glory of sports as well as peace in the state. He explained that, “I am making it in clear and unequivocal terms that aside sports, the governor is doing well for restoring peace in Kaduna state because without peace sports cannot thrive. We are therefore, declaring our undiluted support for his re-election because he is doing well in sports development and anybody that is doing well in the area of sports, building peace and ensuring security of lives and properties, deserves commendation”.
The SWAN President declared that, “as Full Council members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, we are declaring with one voice, our total support to Governor Uba Sani for his re-election considering the massive work that he is doing in developing sports and restoring peace in Kaduna State”.
