More Grace FC has officially appointed former professional footballer, Abu Ali as its Sporting Director, following the signing of a two-year football development collaboration between Arlee Sportif and the club.
The partnership, formalized on Monday, ushers in a fresh phase of youth football development across Edo State. It brings together the football expertise of Abu Ali, CEO of Arlee Sportif, and Prophet Pia Obaseki, Founder and Owner of More Grace FC, and Senior Pastor of Divine Grace of Glory Church.
Under the agreement, Abu Ali assumes responsibility for More Grace FC’s football development framework. His remit includes steering the club’s sporting strategy, leading player recruitment and scouting operations, and driving the club’s long-term sporting objectives.
A widely respected figure in Nigerian football, Abu Ali enjoyed a notable playing career with top Nigeria Premier Football League outfits, including Niger Tornadoes, Wikki Tourists, and Abia Warriors. After hanging up his boots, he transitioned into football administration and management, earning a strong reputation for player development, talent identification, scouting, and operational excellence in the sport.
In their remarks, both parties underscored their shared determination to create meaningful pathways for young footballers while strengthening the football ecosystem of More Grace FC.
Under this partnership, Abu Ali will provide technical leadership, strategic direction, and mentorship aimed at identifying and nurturing talented players, and providing them with structured pathways to advance their careers within Nigeria and beyond its borders. Through Arlee Sportif, Abu Ali has built enduring relationships with clubs, scouts, and key stakeholders across Asia and Europe; networks that have already enabled several promising prospects to secure scouting opportunities and professional career openings abroad.
Anchored on a common vision of discovering exceptional talent, developing well-rounded footballers, and equipping young athletes with the support and visibility required to reach elite levels, the collaboration has been met with enthusiasm by football stakeholders. Many view it as a significant advancement for grassroots football and youth development in Edo State.
The unveiling ceremony was also attended by Mrs. Favour Osadebamhen Obaseki, Vice President of More Grace FC, alongside club officials, football stakeholders, and invited guests.
With the combined experience, leadership, and commitment of Arlee Sportif and More Grace FC, the partnership is expected to leave an enduring imprint on football development in Edo State, while opening doors for talented players to showcase their abilities on both national and international stages.
