...Concludes 3-day revival conference for church leaders
The Albarka Church of Reconciliation, Jalingo, has concluded arrangements to celebrate its 40th anniversary, with activities scheduled to climax on November 28.
The General Overseer and founder of the church, Rev. Nelson Duna, disclosed this in Jalingo, shortly after the conclusion of a three-day revival conference organised for church leaders.
According to him, the anniversary celebration will commence on November 26 and run through November 28. The event is expected to attract prominent church leaders from across the country, including Prophet Emmanuel Nuhu Kure of Kaduna, who will serve as the guest speaker. Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, is expected as the special guest of honour, alongside other dignitaries and representatives of various Christian denominations.
Rev. Duna noted that committees have been constituted to ensure a hitch-free and memorable anniversary, adding that this year’s edition will be unique.
Speaking on the revival conference which ended on Sunday, the cleric explained that the programme was organised to bring together Christian leaders, particularly pastors, to keep them abreast of global changes and emerging challenges in church administration.
He observed that many pulpits have been infiltrated by unqualified persons, making it increasingly difficult to distinguish true believers from impostors.
Rev. Duna, who is the Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba State Chapter, and former Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in the state, said the conference, themed “Revival Now Conference,” was designed to equip new and emerging church leaders with the requisite knowledge to confront contemporary challenges.
He stressed that the gathering emphasised commitment to the church, service to God and humanity, and spiritual resilience in the face of adversity.
“The church globally is facing decline due to infiltration, to the point where it is becoming difficult to separate sinners from genuine believers. This annual programme will help address these challenges and proffer lasting solutions,” he said.
Despite logistical and funding constraints, Rev. Duna said the conference also provided an opportunity for church leaders, especially those from rural areas, to benefit from free medical check-ups.
In his message, the guest speaker, Apostle Peter Akinnubi of the Apostolic Ministry, the Ecclesia of Believers International, Lagos, charged leaders to lead by example through service.
He urged church leaders to have a clear understanding of their calling and divine responsibilities, to exercise patience, show empathy, and live in humility.
While commending Rev. Duna for convening the conference and appreciating the large turnout of participants, Apostle Akinnubi cautioned leaders against excessive focus on material things.
“Christians should be contented and anchored in the Word of God. Leaders must not adulterate the message from above,” he said.
He further encouraged Christians not to distance themselves from politics, but to resist the temptation of being blindfolded by material gains.
The cleric urged the faithful not to exclude God from their affairs, especially as the 2027 general elections approach. He called on Christians to actively participate in the electoral process, vote according to their conscience, and continue to pray for the unity of the nation and the world at large.
