Benue Links GM takes ember months safety campaign to Otukpo

The General Manager of Benue Links Nigeria Limited, Comrade Alexander Aondohemba Fanafa, on Friday took the company’s 2026 Ember Months Safety Campaign to its park in Otukpo, Benue State.

The annual campaign is aimed at promoting safe driving, preventing road crashes and ensuring the safety of passengers and other road users during the peak travel period of the last quarter of the year.

The Information Officer of the company, Johnson Ehi Daniel in a statement on Friday, said Comrade Fanafa, during the visit, inspected operations at the park and interacted with passengers before sensitizing drivers on the need for caution and professionalism throughout the ember months period.

He warned against overloading, overspeeding and other dangerous driving practices, stressing that the safety of passengers and other road users must remain paramount.

“No financial consideration should take precedence over the protection of human lives,” he said, urging drivers to prioritize safety over the pursuit of additional revenue.

The General Manager also cautioned staff against imposing excessive charges on passengers’ luggage and other goods, directing them to ensure fairness, transparency and professionalism in their dealings with customers.

According to him, courteous service and reasonable charges are essential to sustaining public confidence in the company.

On regulatory compliance, Comrade Fanafa directed drivers whose licences had expired or were due for renewal to take immediate steps to regularize their documents, noting that valid driving licences and strict compliance with traffic regulations remain non-negotiable for professional drivers.

He further charged all personnel to remain vigilant, disciplined and law-abiding, adding that adherence to established safety standards would help protect passengers, staff, vehicles and other road users from avoidable accidents.

Responding, the Otukpo Business Manager, Mr. Edache Joseph, and a driver thanked the General Manager for the visit and assured him of their commitment to strictly observe the company’s driving and safety protocols to ensure an accident-free ember months period.
