….Lauds Gov. Alia’s Initiatives
Ter Gboko, Chief Gabriel Shosun, has declared that he will not remain silent while criminal elements destroy his domain, as has occurred in the Sankera axis of Benue State. He called on security agencies and residents alike to be vigilant in order to identify those intending to incite unrest within the community.
Chief Gabriel Shosun issued this warning on Sunday at his residence while delivering closing remarks during the celebration of his 70th birthday anniversary. He asserted that Gboko, being the epicenter of the Tiv nation, must exist in a state of peace and harmony, serving as a refuge for every Tiv individual, stressing that, it would be utterly unacceptable for him to permit criminality, thuggery, and gangsterism to dominate, relegating residents to a state of vulnerability.
He urged perpetrators of such nefarious acts to cease immediately or face dire consequences. “I wish to express my gratitude to God for granting me the privilege to lead the affairs of Gboko Local Government on two occasions; first as council chairman and subsequently as a traditional chief. Throughout these years, I have consistently opposed thuggery and criminality. I must convey my discontent with the recent surge in crime within Gboko.
“This must come to an immediate halt. Under my stewardship, Gboko shall not descend into the chaos witnessed in Sankera. Those who intend to shelter criminals should refrain from such actions, as they will not be spared. I have also cautioned politicians and their supporters to engage the public through tangible projects and other constructive means rather than resorting to thuggery, and I shall not relent, he said
Chief Shosun further urged Gov. Alia’s appointees, particularly those from Gboko, to consistently extol their principal’s integrity and the commendable initiatives he is undertaking wherever they convene. He emphasized that failure to do so would equate to undermining his reputation and implored them to support one another and foster unity to achieve monumental developmental strides for the community.
Ter Gboko expressed his gratitude to Rt. Hon. Terngu Tsegba for his unwavering support, which has persisted since his tenure as chairman, and encouraged others to emulate him.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Joseph Ijir, along with the Chairman of the Benue State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Joseph Kwaghgba, commended Ter Gboko, Chief Gabriel Shosun, for his exemplary leadership and for being a father figure to all, praying for God to grant him many more fruitful years ahead.
The duo, who separately extolled the virtues of Gov. Hyacinth Alia and his purposeful leadership aimed at alleviating the plight of Benue populace while ushering in remarkable development within society, implored the citizens to remain steadfast in their support for him and to reward his commendable performance with a second term for the betterment of Benue State.
