“If misses were goals, Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi would have been many goals up at the end of the dogfight against the Kada Warriors FC of Kaduna, on Wednesday”.
The Head Coach, John Onuh who had in a confessional interview with sports journalists, admitted that if his wards had converted all the chances that they had created in the match, they would have been swimming in a pool of goals and not just to clip the wings of the Kaduna based side by 1-0 which was tucked into the net by Kumaga Suur via a penalty, on the Match Day 13 of the 2025/26 NNL decided at the McCarthy Stadium Makurdi.
He regretted that, “it is quite unfortunate that we didn’t make use of the chances that we created because If we did, no one would have been saying Lobi won the match with just one goal scored through a penalty. That’s just the truth about it”.
Coach Onuh said considering their position on the log, they needed to win it at all costs, and they prepared very well for the game and were sure of winning. He noted that, “I am now in third position on the League table and if at the end of the day I am not able to lead Lobi Stars, to gain promotion to the NPFL, I should be able to say I ended the NNL with second position”.
The erudite Lobi gaffer who identified the changes that needed to be made in the team, revealed that, “there are a lot of things that we need to overhaul in the team, because when I took over the team in the last match of the first round and with the cooperation of the players, we worked hard and also injected a few new players into the team in order to turn around the team but as you can see, we still need to effect some changes so that we can prepare well and make sure that we gain the promotion that we really need back to the NPFL next season”.
