The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Nasarawa State Chapter, has congratulated Nasarawa Amazons Football Club for their spectacular victory in the 2025/2026 President Federation Cup.
The Amazons secured the coveted trophy after a thrilling, nerve-wracking 6–5 penalty shootout victory over rivals Heartland Queens in the grand finale.
In an official statement released in Lafia and signed by the Association’s Chairman, Comrade Smah George, SWAN lauded the team’s mental fortitude and tactical execution on the pitch, noting that the victory further solidifies their status as a powerhouse in Nigerian women’s football.
”This hard-fought victory is a clear demonstration of the team’s resilience, commitment, technical brilliance, and remarkable consistency.
These attributes have continued to distinguish the Nasarawa Amazons as one of the leading women’s football clubs in Nigeria,”Comrade George stated.
The sports writers’ body extended its congratulations beyond the players, highlighting the administrative and technical synergy that made the historic achievement possible.
SWAN specifically commended Hajiya Husseina Suleiman Nagogo (Club Chairperson) for her exemplary leadership and maternal support and Christopher Musa Danjuma (Head Coach) and his technical crew for their tactical brilliance.
It also lauded the management, backroom staff, and players for their unwavering dedication and teamwork.
While celebrating the victory, SWAN acknowledged the sports-loving disposition of the Nasarawa State Government, led by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
The association however, urged the state government to seize this moment to invest even more heavily in the team’s future.
The body appealed for generous, enduring incentives to reward the victorious squad, emphasising that such gestures would motivate the current players and inspire upcoming sporting talent within the state.
SWAN reaffirmed its commitment to promoting women’s sports in the region, calling for enhanced welfare packages, upgraded sporting facilities, and sustained funding to propel the Nasarawa Amazons toward continental glory.
