The Chairman of Gboko Local Government Council, Hon. Torseer Yina, on Monday, flagged off the construction of no fewer than seven streets, totalling over 4 kilometres, in Gboko main town and its outskirts.
The streets to be constructed, according to the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Council Chairman, Mr. Upki Jacob, include: St. John’s Road, along Market Road to Gundo Aluor Way, 0.959 km; J.M. Inienger Street, measuring 0.914 km, and from the Police Field down to Mma Road, 0.892 km. Others are Akaaka Adugba Street, 0.202 km; Myom Hospital Road, 0.357 km; Tomatar Road, 1.414 km; as well as St. James’s Junior Seminary Road, 0.341 km, respectively.
Speaking at the flag-off, Hon. Yina explained that the project stemmed from Gov. Alia’s administration’s “community-oriented budget” aimed at improving infrastructure development across the 23 local government areas in Benue State and also to ease vehicular movement, amongst others. He assured of timely completion of these road projects.
While appreciating Gov. Hyacinth Alia for his impactful projects in the state, which he noted have greatly contributed to the development of Gboko Local Government in particular, Hon. Yina further commended Gboko people for their steadfastness and unalloyed support and called on them to cooperate with the contractors to ensure the projects are executed without hitches.
In their separate remarks, the APC Secretary, Gboko Local Government, Hon. Terwase Akama, as well as the youth representative, Comrade Terfa Tsetim, commended Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Chairman for their exemplary leadership and commitment to development and pledged their unwavering support to the present administration to succeed.
