Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi has unveiled two new players, Johnathan Abu and Bello Igigogo, ahead of the second round of the 2025/26 Nigerian National League (NNL).
Performing the unveiling ceremony before the Sports Writers on Wednesday at the Darlington Hotel in Makurdi, the Chairman of the club, Terver Ikya, said the one-year contract signed by the duo was to strengthen the weak areas identified in the club.
He averred, “We still have three or more players who will also be joining us very soon, and the aim is simply to reinforce all the grey areas that we have noticed in the team.
“It is unfortunate that we are occupying this position on the log, but I want to assure you that with God on our side and with the support from you, the members of SWAN, the Makurdi-based side will gain promotion to the Premiership next league season.
“We want to commend the Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for his undiluted commitment to the welfare of the players and staff of the club, and on our part as management, we will do everything humanly possible not to disappoint him by making sure that the team regains its lost glory.”
In their separate remarks, the newly unveiled players, Johnathan Abu said, “I want to assure you that I will do my best by scoring goals and also creating assists in order to actualize the team’s dream of returning to the Premiership.”
Bello Igigogo said, “I promise to do my best for the team, and now that I am here, we have become one family, and any pattern or position in the field which the coaches ask me to play, I will make sure that I play it to the best of my ability in order to contribute my quota to the development of the team.”
