Honourable Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba has formally withdrawn from the gubernatorial race and declared interest for the Nasarawa South Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Nalaraba who currently represents Awe/Doma/Keana Federal Constituency at the National Assembly made this public at a Press briefing in Lafia.
He said that the decision to step down from the contest was to maintain party unity and cohesion.
The federal lawmaker noted that his withdrawal was a strategic move guided by “political maturity” and a commitment to the collective interest of the APC.
According to him, he has aligned himself with the transition plan of the incumbent Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, who has endorsed Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the preferred successor.
”This decision is not borne out of fear, weakness, or lack of capacity, but a decision guided by wisdom, strength, political maturity, loyalty, and sincere commitment to preserving the unity, peace, stability, and collective progress of our great party APC, and the State,” Nalaraba stated.
The Senatorial aspirant further emphasised his commitment to his previous pledges, saying, “I gave my word and I stand by it, and today, I honour that commitment in full. Politics must never be reduced to a contest of personal interest alone.”
The former gubernatorial aspirant also pledged the full weight of his political machinery including palliatives, scholarship programs, and grassroots coordinators to ensure Senator Wadada’s victory at both the primaries and the general elections.
”I will deploy my entire political structure, mobilise my supporters across the Wards, LGAs, and indeed the necessary resources to ensure Senator Wadada’s success,” he promised.
Speaking on his decision to contest the Nasarawa South Senatorial District seat, Nalaraba said he had consulted with stakeholders and elders, describing the move as a response to the “collective call” of his constituents and added that they desire high-level legislative representation.
”I have resolved to offer myself for service to run for the seat of the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to represent my zone, Nasarawa South Senatorial District. This decision reflects my continued commitment to serve, to represent, and to advance the cause of our people at a higher legislative level” , he added.
He expressed profound gratitude to the Nalaraba Campaign Organisation, specifically mentioning ward coordinators, women groups, and youth organisations and praised Governor Sule for his “tolerance and inclusiveness”.
Nalaraba noted that the Governor’s leadership style encouraged dialogue over conflict, stressing that this would make transition possible.
