The Central Planning Committee for the grand reception of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured that the event will be peaceful and colorful.
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase, who represents Wase Federal Constituency, gave the assurance on Monday during a press conference to herald the event scheduled for Tuesday at the Polo Field, Jos.
Hon. Wase urged Plateau citizens to demonstrate their reputation as peaceful and loving people. “Let us use this opportunity to showcase Plateau State as a peaceful, hospitable, and politically mature state, worthy of its renewed prominence on the national stage,” he said.
According to the programme of events, Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside other top APC leaders, will officially welcome Governor Mutfwang into the party on Tuesday.
Speaking on why the APC accepted Governor Mutfwang into its fold, the former Deputy Speaker noted that the governor’s consultative approach, dignified conduct, and calm disposition have earned him respect and admiration across political divides. “These qualities position his leadership as a beacon of hope for a united and progressive Plateau State,” Hon. Wase stated.
He further explained that Plateau State is witnessing a profound and historic political realignment, which signals a clear transition toward unity, inclusive leadership, and collective responsibility.
Recall that Governor Caleb Mutfwang, alongside his deputy, Josephine Piyo, recently announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
