Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has commended the state’s security agencies for their exceptional vigilance and unwavering commitment to tackling crime.
This followed a high-profile operation that led to the rescue of an abducted citizen and the arrest of three suspected kidnappers.
The successful crackdown was executed by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in a coordinated effort aimed at rooting out criminal networks across the state.
In a press statement released on Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary ( CPS) to the Governor, Ibrahim Addra stated that security forces tracked down the syndicate across multiple locations within the state.
The statement explained that the operatives first stormed a hideout situated at Atabula in the Duduguru community, located within the Jenkwe Development Area, where one suspect was apprehended.
According to the statement, a subsequent intelligence-led operation led DSS personnel to a hotel in Lafia, the state capital, where two additional suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping were tracked down and taken into custody.
It noted that beyond the arrests, security personnel destroyed the operational base of the syndicate by burning down their makeshift camp.
The statement further stated that the operatives also recovered cash alongside five mobile phones and other items from the suspects.
Expressing deep satisfaction with the outcome of the operation, Governor Sule praised the tactical efficiency displayed by the officers.
He described the arrests as a clear “demonstration of the effectiveness and dedication of the security agencies,” while urging them to “sustain the momentum and remain resolute in the fight against criminal elements.”
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to public safety, Governor Sule assured security forces in Nasarawa State of continued logistical and operational support to carry out their duties effectively.
The Governor also appealed to members of the public to complement security efforts by maintaining local vigilance, stressing that “collective vigilance and cooperation are essential to maintaining peace and security in the state.”
He urged residents to remain alert and consistently provide law enforcement agencies with “timely, credible and useful information” to help prevent crime.
