The Shitile Rebirth Forum (SRF), a socio-cultural organization in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, has expressed appreciation to the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for his visionary leadership and commitment to the development of the Shitile Nation as well as the state.

Speaking at a World Press Conference held at the NUJ House, Makurdi, on Saturday, the forum commended Governor Alia for securing the land, donating to the church project at St. Margaret Parish, Tor-Donga, and approving the renovation of primary schools in Abaji and Tor-Donga.

The SRF also applauded the Governor’s decision to upgrade Shitile Community Secondary School, Tor-Donga, to a Science and Technical College, citing the potential benefits of enhanced access to quality technical education, job creation, and development. The forum acknowledged Governor Alia’s inclusive governance approach, noting the appointment of competent Shitile sons into key positions.

“The upgrade of Shitile Community Secondary School, Tor-Donga, to a full-fledged Science and Technical College reflects a leadership that understands the critical role of education, science, technology, and technical skills acquisition in shaping the future of young people and driving long-term economic development in our area,” the group said.

“For decades, the Shitile Nation has yearned for peace and meaningful educational infrastructure capable of competing at the state, national, and global levels. The approval will not only enhance access to quality technical education but also create job opportunities, attract development, and encourage self-employment, self-sufficiency, and employment of Shitile sons and daughters in relevant government ministries, agencies, and institutions”, they added.

In addition to expressing gratitude, the SRF made several appeals, including the construction of critical roads such as the Tor-Donga – Zaki-Biam Road, Gbise – Degarr Road, and Abaji Chir-Akera (Ibufu) Road, to stimulate economic activities and enhance security. They also requested the posting of more health workers to Primary Healthcare Centers across Shitile land.

They condemned violent and criminal activities in the area, distancing the Shitile Nation from violence, criminality, and lawlessness. They called on the Shitile Area Traditional Council to rebuke criminality and urge their subjects to abandon arms.

“The Forum condemns in totality the heinous, barbaric, and criminal activities carried out in parts of our area, which threaten peace, development, and communal co-existence in the area. We strongly disassociate the Shitile Nation from all acts of violence, criminality, and lawlessness,” the statement added.

The SRF, led by Barrister Terna Agbo, passed a Vote of Confidence on Governor Alia, Hon. Prince Solomon Wombo, Hon. Dr. Shaku Justine Orangoholga, Comrade Alexander Aondohemba Fanafa, and other government appointees of Shitile extraction.

Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Benue State Council, praised the Shitile Rebirth Forum for responsibly utilizing the press platform to express their views. He emphasized the media’s crucial role in fostering constructive dialogue, promoting peace, and raising public awareness, assuring that the SRF’s position would be heard globally.
