Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of Corps Members serving in the state.
Governor Sule stated this during the opening ceremony of the 2026 National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC) Batch A, Stream 1 Orientation Course, held at the Magaji Dan Yamusa Permanent NYSC Orientation Camp in Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Kwanta Yakubu, the governor extended his warm congratulations to the Corps Members on completing their academic pursuits and taking the oath to serve their country.
He emphasised the significance of the Orientation Course, stating, “This Orientation Course is designed to equip you with skills to tackle challenges during and after the camping exercise.”
Governor Sule urged the Corps Members to contribute meaningfully to the development of society, assuring them that outstanding service would be recognized and rewarded.
He said, “Any Corps Member initiating a project that touches the lives of the people will be rewarded,” highlighting his administration’s focus on recognizing and supporting initiatives that benefit communities.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Corps Members, citing the ongoing construction of a new multipurpose hall at the camp as evidence of this commitment.
On her part, NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Salamatu Abdulrahman Muhammad, provided an update on the registration, stating that 2,200 Corps Members (1,010 males and 1,190 females) had registered for the course, aimed at fostering unity, patriotism, and national integration.
The state Coordinator appreciated Governor Sule for the continuous supports and provision of a conducive working environment for the Scheme to thrive, particularly the construction of a multi-purpose hall which has reached appreciable level.
She assured of sustaining the collaboration between the NYSC and the State Government as well as relevant and collaborative stakeholders for the mutual benefits of all.
The ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu, represented by Hon Justice Abdullahi Shamshama who administered the Pledge and Oath of Allegiance, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sule on Sports Affairs, Comrade Hamza Ibrahim Moyi, traditional leaders, among other government officials.
