Benue State is set to strengthen digital education with the establishment of 13 new Digital Learning Centres (DLCs) across selected schools, a move aimed at expanding access to technology-driven teaching and learning in the state’s basic education sector.
The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, disclosed this on Tuesday during the Federal Ministry of Education–Universal Basic Education Commission (FME–UBEC) Roundtable Convening Meeting on Digital Resources held at the UBEC Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a press release signed by the Special Assistant on Corporate Communications and Community Engagements, Msughter J. Ataigbough, Dr. Adagba participated in the meeting following her nomination as a member of the National EdTech Committee established by the Federal Ministry of Education to drive improved learning outcomes through educational technology.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Adagba highlighted Benue State’s ongoing digital education initiatives, noting that the planned establishment of 13 Digital Learning Centres reflects the Board’s commitment to creating technology-enabled learning environments that will improve access to quality educational resources, enhance teaching effectiveness, and support modern instructional practices across schools.
She also reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to adapting and deploying relevant digital resources and innovations developed by the Federal Ministry of Education and UBEC to strengthen digital learning interventions in Benue State.
The high-level meeting focused on advancing technology adoption, digital innovation, and the deployment of strategic digital resources to improve learning outcomes in Nigeria’s basic and senior secondary education sectors.
The National EdTech Committee comprises representatives of the Federal and State Governments, UBEC, the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs), State Ministries of Education, development partners, and other key stakeholders in the education sector.
